Why We Homeschool

I believe the basic premise of education is to teach children to recognize and appreciate truth wherever they find it.

I homeschool because I believe it is the best way for my children to get an education.

I just plain don't agree with the way the public school system does things. They put together a one-size-fits-all education, when really learning should be more perfectly fitted to the individual. They can't help it, but I can. I'm blessed with the desire and opportunity to teach my children myself.

I don't like all the homework young children are sent home with after an already long day at school. This takes up valuable time when kids could be playing and families could be spending time doing other activities together.

I do not think that the public school system is the best place for kids to go and learn how to be social. In fact, it is probably one of the worst places for that! Homeschooling does not create socially backwards children. It does the opposite. It creates kids who feel loved and secure and confident enough to go out in the world and socialize with others respectfully.

I love spending my days with my children. Even though I do enjoy a moment to myself now and then, I honestly enjoy their company and truly treasure my time teaching and nurturing and protecting them.

I like to keep lessons short, use living books and leave lots of time for play. After all, kids should spend a good deal of their day just being kids!

We believe that educating children at home is a great way to ensure that they not only receive the benefits of individualized academic instruction, but also the advantages of character, faith and life skill development.

I want to prepare my children to be competent and independent adults, fully capable of being a productive member of society. I want to set them up for success by teaching how to make wise choices. I want them to know what they believe, but especially why they believe it.

I want my children to more freely and easily be able to pursue interests and develop talents.
